My name is Marin Godsoe and I am a doctoral candidate in Clinical Psychology at Antioch University New England. In 1992 I was diagnosed with Chiari 1 malformation and Syringomyelia.

I am conducting a study of factors that influence chronic pain management and treatment use among people with Chiari, Syringomyelia, and related disorders as a dissertation project. I have designed a survey study to explore these factors. It?s my hope that this study might yield some suggestions for improving pain management and pain treatment delivery. Depending upon the results of the study, I will attempt to get it published.

The survey takes most people between 15 and 30 minutes to complete. It can be completed online, or by paper-and-pencil, sent through the mail. I am looking for about 400 adults (age 18 or older) who are interested in participating in the survey. I am looking for adults who currently experience chronic pain. For the purposes of this study chronic pain does not just mean constant pain ? it can be any recurrent pain that you?ve had at least 3 months.

I am inviting anyone interested in participating in this study to call or send me an e-mail. In the e-mail please specify whether you would prefer to take the survey online or if you would rather receive a hard copy in the mail that you would send back after you completed it. Please specify the e-mail address or mailing address that you would like the survey sent to. You may request a large print version of the paper-and-pencil version of the survey.

Participation in the survey is anonymous. Your e-mail address will not be shared or stored after the study.

Please remember that to participate you must be 18 years old or older, and you must have chronic pain. If you are interested in taking the survey, please send me an e-mail at Marin_Godsoe@antiochne.edu or maringodsoe@hotmail.com (I check both daily) or call (603)762-3392.

Thanks so much,
